EXPERIENCE DESIGN CASE STUDY: Philadelphia Zoo For their first-time ever themed event America’s first zoo dating back to 1874 transformed their 42-acre Victorian campus into a fantastical holiday attraction called LumiNature. They looked to Luminous Ventures to assemble a team of innovative artists to conceive and produce Northern Lights, a 10-minute multimedia show that played 10 times nightly encompassing panoramic visuals with an emotionally charged soundtrack inspiring guests to cherish Planet Earth’s diversity of life.

Collaborating with zoological curators and horticulturists, our loftiest goal was to create a public art piece promoting awareness and conversation about climate change’s consequences that our children will inherit. Northern Lights’ excellence is in its simple storytelling and message, its coexistence with zoo life, contribution to the city, and accessibility for urban families. Northern Lights is honored to be the recipient of Live Design's 2020 Design Achievement Award.

EXPERIENCE DESIGN CASE STUDY: Broadway Relief Project In the midst of the 2020 Pandemic, as New Yorkers were taking their first steps safely gathering to share live entertainment experiences again, Open Jar Studios was the first to conceive a COVID conscious indoor cabaret in a 4000 square foot, two story high soundstage overlooking Times Square. The cabaret series, each benefiting a different Broadway charity, featured the incredible award winning talents of Joshua Henry, Jay Armstrong Johnson, Anthony Nunziata, Brandon Victor Dixon, Kate Baldwin, and others.

Luminous Ventures is proud to be a part of the creative team who dramatically transformed the studio into a beautifully designed socially distant showroom where the artists’ performances felt intimate while staying 20 feet from the closest audience members, all of whom were seated between transparent acrylic screens at vinyl covered tables. Every safety protocol was carefully conceived and executed, allowing audience, performers and staff to each feel safe yet exhilarated while experiencing this inspiring historic moment.
